This year’s Christmas holidays will certainly be unique; the whole year has been like that.

Don’t let its unpleasantness ruin your favorite holidays. Create a festive and peaceful atmosphere at home, whether with a good book or by chatting with your loved ones. Ideally both.

We are happy to announce to all our readers that after a long break caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, we are reopening the library on July 2, 2020, at 1 PM. Library services will be available every working Monday and Thursday from 1 PM to 6 PM throughout the summer holidays.

During the forced break, we also prepared a new library logo and purchased new book releases for you, which are eagerly awaiting their first readers.

We are delighted that our library was selected as an example of good practice and invited to present at the Meeting of Local Public Library Staff, organized by the Municipal Library in Prague on the 25th. 2. 2020. This gave us the opportunity to introduce our library to a wider audience following its recent reopening in new premises.

Šárka presented our experience so far in working with senior readers, as well as our perspectives on reaching out to younger readers and building bridges for intergenerational cooperation.

Our readers’ interest in detective stories, thrillers, and other suspenseful tales is so great that they will surely be pleased by the addition of several new titles to our collection. On the other hand, fans of romance can discover stories by the award-winning British author Jojo Moyes.

At our January event, we welcomed groups of children from a nearby primary school over two days, and we were delighted by their interest in visiting the library. Not only did they draw us lovely pictures from their Christmas reading, but they also showed a keen interest in how the library works, as many of them were visiting a public library for the first time. They learned about how books are organized on the shelves, how to search the catalog, and the terms for borrowing and returning books. The most enthusiastic children later brought their parents along, and after proper registration, we now have new young readers. We hope our new readers find interesting books here that bring them many enjoyable reading experiences.

We are creating an exhibition from the children’s drawings, which other readers can also contribute to by bringing in their own pictures inspired by their reading from home.

We invite our youngest readers to our library on the 15th. 1. 2020 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM for the event “What we read, what was read to us at Christmas.” Come tell us, show us, or paint it… Your librarians are looking forward to your pictures and stories!
